Music Projects
Amateur Ornithologist have recorded four studio albums, performed at festivals and venues across the North East and raised over £3k through crowdfunding campaigns.
We were chosen by BBC Introducing, NARC. Magazine and Durham Brass Festival to perform at the 2025 edition of the festival in collaboration with Small Town Brass and Abigail Brierley.
I've been fortunate to support emerging musicians to develop their skills - including Jade Thirlwall and Cortney Dixon.
I started my career helping young people write, perform and record original music for South Tyneside Council. I managed a Youth Music-funded programme for those lacking opportunities to make music.
I worked with young participants of Gig Culture for The Cultural Spring in 2025.
You can hear guest appearances I've made on musical projects including Cling Films and Citizens of YEAH!.
I arranged bass and drum parts for Cling Film's 2026 EP, as well as project managing the recording and recruiting musicians.
I contributed backing vocals for Citizens of YEAH!'s 3 Little Piggies and spoken word sections for Bill Gateshead and Funpark Fugitives.
My first band Squares performed around Tyne and Wear from 2006 to 2009, and recorded one album - Hate, Love and Public Transport.
With guitarist and co-writer Martin Trollope (aka Harbourmaster), I developed songwriting and recording experience in the MySpace age of independent music.
In 2019, Squares reformed to record 2cm, which created the groundwork for Amateur Ornithologist.
